Planning Board backs zoning ban on data centers

NJ CHERRY HILL — Cherry Hill Planning Board recommends data center zoning prohibition. The board unanimously voted to recommend Ordinance 2026-10 to Township Council, which would prohibit data centers as a principal land use in the township. Planning consultant Christopher Dochney testified that data centers conflict with the township's 2018 Master Plan due to significant energy and water consumption, visual impact, and minimal job creation.
The board also administered oaths to three new or reappointed members: Ed Rentezelas as Class IV Member, Scott Owens as Alternate Member No. 1, and William Kresz as Alternate Member No. 2.
